
the incredibly long-winded way that I use on my antiquated Mac with antiquated software is:
grab my YouTube video as an .flv (double click the largest filesize entry in the Activity window in Safari) and skip through frames in QuickTime player using the right arrow key, screenshotting with Apple-Shift-3 as I go. Then dump all of the screenshot files into one folder, in ImageReady use Import Folder As Frames, and crop my canvas size down so it only includes the playback window :|
