One of my neighbours did that, decided to catch 40 winks, and drove into one of the fishery protection vessels. He gets pulled up every time he goes out now.

BTW, there's nothing to stop the captain getting off first but as the captain is the owners representative and leaving early can affect the salvage rights. For a passenger vessel the captain is supposed to coordinate the evacuation and I suppose could be charged with reckless endangerment or similar.
