I am only slightly concerned
but due to buying bigger and bigger hard drives each time, the 'old files I should probably sort out' folders have been growing and growing, and taking up proportionally less of the total storage space.
There are times when I wonder if having a total backup failure and having to resort to square one might actually be therapeutic.

what I find fun
is when you backup everything
and you format the old drive
and it's
oh
15 minutes in
there was stuff
think of kittens when it happens

I did this on an old laptop
on which I'd saved around 200 photos from an amazing explore in a derelict school which was later demolished. Because it was a slightly naughty activity, I stored the photos in an obscure folder.
OK, all clear, all backed up, load up Darik's to format the drive to sell it on eBay. Well, that's going fine, I can go and make a cup of... hang on - the photos!
*bites lip*
...lost.
