To be honest I'd love thatI've always wished Britain had a Reopen Nominations on the electoral forms - it would give the parties an enormous kick up the arse.
But then, I've also always wished the British public would remember that we vote by MP, not by party, and stop drivelling on about how they 'didn't vote for David Cameron'. No, unless you're one of the 20,000 or so people in his constituency, of course you fucking didn't. Then if more people realised that they vote by MP they might actually, you know, try talking with independent candidates who might give a toss about the constituency.
But then, I've been a big fan of outlawing the whip system - punishable with fines running into five or six figures, and ten years in jail, no parole - for a long time now.
Alas, none of the parties follow my line of thinking, which is why I've tended to be also another very disillusioned Lib Dem voter, except that I didn't vote in the last election because I didn't register myself as an overseas voter early enough.
