I think Linus signs his name as Linus whenever Linus can

because Linus knows everyone knows who Linus is, he's Linus for fuck's sake! And Linus doesn't use his surname because Linus is Linus, and Linus first released code to a small community who all knew who Linus was, and it's a tradition Linus has followed up to this very day mainly because Linus wants his image to be as a fresh-faced young schoolboy.
