We had that happen a lot at the home on Maui.Never with owls, however. Pigeons would attempt to fly through the spotless picture window on the kitchen side of the house and leave behind those imprints. I found it hilarious the feet were always splayed out in front of the bird, as if at the last instant it realized there was a barrier there and was frantically attempting to brake before the inevitable THUD.
The strange bit was I witnessed 5 of them while I was washing stuff at the sink; you'd expect them to make a run when there weren't any witnesses present.
Hilarious comic strip, btw. I'm going to show it to the aforementioned artist friend and enjoy witnessing her reaction.
