The simplicity of the drawings costs useful detail. IKEA tends to have two or more almost identical parts in the packages which for instance differ only in a tiny groove on one side of the part. These differences obviously are hard to point out strong enough in a simplistic cartoon. Therefore, if you don't always double check that you in fact are about to apply the correct part, you may end up disassembling the whole shebang fifteen minutes later in order to start over.
