What's the etiquetteif I want to save this pic and post it on facebook? I think my friends would appreciate the humour but, copyright laws aside, I didn't make this and don't want to be spreading something around if it's against the wishes of the person who did.

As long as you don't crop my tagthen you can do what you want with it.
That said, a link to b3ta is usually the best as it helps promote the site.
(I nicked the images from the Guardian anyway, so I have no right to complain what anyone does with it.)
