I managed to go through most of my life so far without knowing.Which suggests he mostly kept it to himself.
The Savile comparison would only really apply if he went out of his way to worsen the lives of the people he hated. I haven't heard of him doing this (please correct me with a link if I'm wrong and/or you care what I think)
