
1) after moaning for quite a while, argentina have decided they're going to take back the falkland islands, despite the fact that the islanders voted overwhelmingly to stay british.
2) a british cardinal is fortuitously booted out of office right before he's supposed to fly off to rome to help pick the new pope. he's kicked out for behaviour that is usually completely denied or covered up.
3) there is now NO british involvement in the choosing of the new pope.
4) the conclave make their decision in what is, for the vatican, record time.
5) the new pope is argentinian.
not that i'm saying anything's amiss, just got my slightly paranoid head on today.
