
We kept the Saint Patrick's Saltire in the flag after the partition of Ireland. Plenty of independent states still use the Union Jack in their flags to indicate their origins as British colonies. There is no reason why shouldn't we keep the St Andrew's Saltire. Also, the Queen will remain head of state in an independent Scotland.

Seeing as you seem to know a bit: I've always wondered why the light blue from the St Andrew's Saltire isn't carried across to the Union Jack, which is notably darker, any idea why that is?
