It's a pun of sorts on the term Redcoat, which is associated with that peculiar British vacation tradition, the Holiday Camp.

'Ho-de-Ho' is meant to to be a response to a call-and-respond triggered by the phrase 'Hi-de-Hi', which was also the title of a long-running British 80s sitcom based in the 50s/60s at a fictionalised Maplins Holiday Camp, where they wore yellowcoats instead.

There's also an unrelated store in the UK called Maplin, which is roughly equivalent to Radio Shack.
