Geocitiescheck where the request for an image is coming from. if it's not from a geocities page then it doesn't let you see it.
You can apparently get round it by renaming the file to .txt and changing the link.
Or you can host somewhere like tripod.co.uk (not tripod.com) which doesn't check referrers.
