maybe its a view in a mirrorso that the backward print on the stamp appears forwards, and the print we see is actually on the mirror.
The only problem witht his theory is that the stamp itself is only visible in the mirror. Kind of an inverse-vampire stamp, if you will.

AITYMF it's a special sort of stamp for stampingon glass viewed from the front. I had it made up specially.
