when you rowyou row so your back is forwards, your front is at the back so to speak. i mean your back is at the front of the boat and your front is at the back. you pull bak on the oars to go forwards, i.e. in the direction of your back.

When you actually get a rowing machine on the water it does go forward, because it has no ores, it use the fan suck up air to push it forwards. you sit backwards on a baot so ores will work.
