Although,Macdonalds had been warned that their cups were unsafe and had chosen to ignore it, several other people had already been badly burned, the coffee was actually considerably hotter than any cup you might make yourself because the design of the cup kept all the heat in - and basically, she had every right to sue. There are more than enough genuinely frivolous lawsuits around without building up urban legends around ones were there was a good reason for it. Oh, and she got nowhere near 13 million.
