When I was a kid,it used to freak the hell out of me when I'd hear a strange noise in the midle of the night, and see a flash of light with my eyes closed. I thought the flashes of light were the death energy of the ghost leaking through my eyelids when the ghost had been disturbed by the noise.
Yeasr later I saw a show on TV about synaesthesia, and put 2 and 2 together. It's a condition where sound is perceived as visuals. I have it very mildly, it only works in pitch darkness. Goes well with music and cannabis.
