# Since you asked ..
Back in the days before the interweb, there were bulletin boards (BBS). They had file ratios for non-3LiTT3 members, such as you could download 3k for every 1k you uploaded.

This led some L4M3RZ to upload lots of old files to gain the ability to download lots of new ones. So BBS's started vetting their upload directory before making them publicly available or giving the uploader credit.

1-day W4R3Z suggested a 1-day turnaround between uploading and the files going public. 0-day simply suggested peer verification too place in less than a day, meaning it was the place to go to get the absolutely latest warezzzz.

# I thought
0-day meant that the warezed(?) version was released on the same day as the public release of the software?

# Yes, it did come to mean that later.
But there was a time of 0-day cracks, patches, demos, etc.
