After you submit copy the sub editor cuts it into whatever shape he wants. You don't get to review it until it's in print! If his original piece said something different to the published version how the hell's he supposed to do anything about it? His byline is not where the buck stops.

Well actually, I can believe it coz they've fucked around with his copy, but he should have got it. Look what's happened now.

He submits copy, the sub edits it, the magazine publishes it. If the meaning of the copy changes between him filing it with the sub and it appearing in print it's nothing to do with him.
