I donno if it's the pen-toolas I don't know the technical names.
If you wish to learn the shortcuts, just hover over a button and it would say, for example "brush (b)", 'B' is the brush. It'll be on the setting you last used.
If your in the UK, Future do a fantastic newbie photoshop magazine/book thing.
