I read about a bloke doing that a while agoDropped a fake junk-mail cheque (of the 'you-have won-our-magnificent-prize' variety) and, to his shock, it got accepted and put into his account. Very well-written account of it online somewhere (googling now...).
I'm told that if you report bank errors in your favour, the banks often give some sort of cash reward. Probably about 50p, but at least you're still in profit.
