Well apparently
the earliest domesticated dog was the wolfhound, the enormous, generally mild-mannered dog which kills wolves. So early man had good priorities.

Apparently
the introduction of domesticated dogs helped increase man's brain size. Good sense of smell takes up a lot of 'brain storage', as the dogs were used in hunting a good nose (which neanderthal man had) was no longer needed, and those pars of the brain were able to be used for other things.

I thought it was now commonly accepted that homo sapiens ARENT decended from homo neanderthalus? Rather when some ice age ended, we moved into europe and chased them all away with better pointy sticks than they had?
