I thought it relied too muchon old film cliches. moreover the editing was pretty poor. at one point he looks for a gun only to find it missing because his assistant's taken it, and then a few pages later he suddenly has it, then it's back with his assistant again. the narrative felt like it was drifting, too. not as tight as the first book.
