quick question...from a rookie, if i wanted to paint her face diff colours how would i do it and keep all the shade and shit?

I'm notgreat at doing that, but in photoshop you can set the transparency/opacity on the brush you are using so that you can just paint over the top, and probably use the airbrush... anyone got better advice?
