You do realizethat there are real Mountain Lions? My aunt's dog was mauled by one.
They're like normal lions only no manes, slightly smaller, and live in North America (...and perhaps elsewhere).
So yes there are thousands of Lions roaming free in the United States.
Maybe Canada?

Actual Mountain Lion, lurking in our garden
The mountain lion, cougar, puma is a species of cat found in and around my home town of Victoria BC Canada. along with the rest of the west coast of North America. They occasionally enter my city and try to steal pets and small children!! On March the 3rd, 1992 one was captured in the Emperess Hotel parkade in the middle of our down town core, the same building the Queen of England stays in while visiting town. However we did promise her it might not happen again.
