Sigh.
I really do know all this. I have both Photoshop and the Gimp installed, plus a nifty little thing called Paint.net, you might want to give it a look. It was just a quick case of painting a magenta cock onto a picture, for which MS Paint seemed the ideal solution.
And TIFF isn't really ideal for webpages.

tiff is not at all suitable for anything but image editing
and if you put anything other than gif or jpeg here you will be bumraped.
If you have the tools then why argue about what is suitable? Just do as the faq asks. Sorry if I pissed you off. You need a thicker skin.
