I have a nifty trickwhen you select an area with the magic wand, before you fill it with color (yes, color, colour is totally different) expand the selection a few pixels, and make sure you put the color layer under the layer you have the lines on. That way the filled in section goes past just the very edges of the lines.
That's quicker than going around with a brush and filling in holes later.
