Actually I read an insertfrom one of my Photoshop Studio Techniques books and it says there is no right ot wrong in the ways it's pronounced - so I appologise if I seemed to making my point too strongly, which was that even though I and millions of others pronounce it 'gif' as in 'Gift' there are still a proportion of people who call it 'jiff' whether Compuserve defined the pronunciation or not.
