Neologisms are words and terms that have recently been 'coined' and generally do not appear in any dictionary

A protologism is a term to refer to a word that is created and used in the hope that it will become widely used and an accepted part of the language. A successful protologism becomes a neologism. An unsuccessful protologism may become a paleologism.
