it`s a typical browser thing when using backgrounds in table cells; it also breaks XHTML conformance and stuff... try replacing that stuff with stylesheeted equivalents; it`ll be more future proof, easier to maintain, and may fix teh problem nicely
edit: it`s annoying, because it also renders "properly" in dreamweaver
