sit in the front row at the odeon
with a pencil and paper,
sketch the frames you want - you may have to watch the movie more than once so buy a large bucket of popcorn,
then get yourself a decent oil painting setup and start making the frames from your sketches
next, get a large flatbed scanner and place your oil paintings in the scanner (you may have to wait a few months for the paint to cure so you don't get oil paint all over the scanner glass) and take as high a resolution scan of each painting
then simply load each frame, in order, into your favourite gif anim software
et voila!
