That's not dullit's a interesting question. I do think the original is damaged there. Some pics on the net show what looks like a crease, crack or tear just there, and others show the green stripe.
My guess: someone ineptly tried to digitally remove the crease and the badly shopped copy has been propogated over the web.
I'd be genuinely interested to know the real reason though.
