Generally something to be regarded as A Good Thing.
The games you've missed will be both cheap and classic now. The newer games aren't all that interesting anyway ._.

good stuff
you will no doubt
be getting Half Life 2.
Also go to ATI and download their latest drivers ( not to use,) just that they are giving away an option in the download files to get HL2 Lost Coast as a freebie.

Lost Coast isn't worth it. It's just like a 5 minute level that's barely more than a tech demo.
You get Deathmatch free, too. Which is also godawful.

ah right.
I've never played it. I'm not a big HL2 fan. More of a dungeoner or games like X3. Playing Dawn of Magic ( russian game, kind of Diablo for the 21st century ) at the moment and loving some hack and slash.

ooh that's harsh
I remember the day I got my ATI 9800pro just for DX9.0 and did indeed rejoice. Until PCIe cards came out. I'm chasing pixel fill rates every 3-6 months now. Currently on twin XT1950's and am considering a DX10 card shortly.

Balls to you.
My X850XT is starting to talk to me. It says things like "Woah, hey, I'm old. You want to play Fallout 3, right?" to which I go "That's not for over a year yet, spaz" and it goes "WOOAH UPGRADE ME ANYWAY"

I'm afraid
I don't do Nvidia so I'm looking at an HD2900XT for an AMD dual core I will be building mid-week.

No I'm going with the
4200+ X2 simply because I picked one up with an SLI board and 2GB DDR800 for buttons in the loot.

Socket 939
is indeed the way to go as AM2 ( latest 64bit Athlon, Sempron and X2 chips ) will be around for a while I think
