# My mother and I were talking only on Saturday
that it's astounding that nobody under the age of 20 is likely to understand the concept of life without a mobile phone and having to relay on public telephones in order to conduct your day to day business when traveling. I got my first 'transportable' ( car phone that allowed you to carry it around with it's nuclear powered rucksack ) phone in around 1984 and there were no 'mobile' phones around then.

apropos of your technology blob.

# it must be said
I resent my mobile. Which is why its always either switched off, in my bag or on silent. I think the idea that you can be contacted anywhere at any time is just much too intrusive.

Slowly but surely, we're having all our privacy and quiet technology-free downtime taken away. The technological revolution is wonderful, but also extremely dangerous at the rate its going.

# I can't be without mine
as its an XDA and serves as my all in one. I can however turn off the phone aspect with a tap of the screen and still surf the net or watch a movie.

# Ah, thats handy
See I just switch my phone off, put my computer on standby and go for a walk in the countryside, sans iPod :)

(The digital camera doesn't count as technology though. Obviously.)
