In summary, if he wanted to use my pic, I had no problem with it, it was the way it was done that pee'd me, and evidently a few others, off.

I had no problem with your response, or your ire. It's well deserved. I did feel that many of the responses were unnecessary, as well as breaking the rules laid down in the FAQ for exactly this sort of thing.
