Not exactly trueYou can play all the wii games without the extra accessories. And as the wiimote already has all the functionality in it, the addons aren't replacements for it, just plastic shells to slide it in to. I think I saw a set of 5 different ones for 15 quid or so.
The Wii Zapper is (or will be, dont have my wii anymore) included in whatever gun game came out around the same time.
On the other hand, extra accessories for the ps2/ps3 (guitar hero, ddr, those quiz games, etc) are all very expensive.
