room 101 was the torture room in 1984 (the book)if I remember correctly they put winston smith in with a cage around his head into which they put a rat.
In either the goons or another bbc radio comedy the same thing was done expect they put the 'torture' victim in the room with an elderly, wheezing ferret and blame government cutbacks
