Whatever your feeling towards his and his fan's motivations towards the art, it is essentially only a singular perspective.
Equally if you suddnely got ridiculously good at drawing someone could say, 'typical androgynous emo/goth/whatever boy types'. What a waste.
There's nothing against drawing what you like, although I suppose he may not neccessarily be overly fond of it given the amount of irony is some of the stuff.
Don't let whatever stereotypes or own life experiences steep your view of the validity of his work.
