It's particularly odd in my casebecause it's some reasonably simple NVQ work I need to do, and when I have I can leave my fucking shit job and find some decent work...it's really in my best interests to do it as soon as possible.

if it means a change of scene then just make yourself an unchangeable deadlineno point putting up with a shite job any longer than absolutely necessary
