Arse!Gimp runs atop X11 for the mac. Apples version of X11 does not support tablets, so no pressure sensitivity in gimp or inkscape. Only OSX-native pressure support for me! :(

Actually, I could handle no Channels palette, but the Elements version of QuickMask freaked me out so much I uninstalled the demo right away.
That and the fact it was based on CS2 and so was bloaty bullcrap.
