Mess around with polar co-ordinates in PS I think. We are the lemon irked your craw on,

yesyou cut the image in two and then swap the 2 sides over (so the outside edges of the picture meet in the middle). Faff around with clone, smudge etc... to make the join as seamless as possible. Adjust the size to make it a square image, then use the polar coordinate (square) filter.
