I don't agree that I'm overly defensive.I let a lot of stuff go, she can fend for herself. But when an aggressive adult tells her she should be "off somewhere cutting herself" or something like that then yes, I'm going to say something. Her wellbeing is partly my responsibility and I take it seriously.

saying something like that to anyone is a bit muchbut I'm not sure how it figures in this. If you're defensive of anyone when it's the quality of their contribution that's in question, it's hardly right to call someone else on the same thing.
