Brrr.
cor, nothing like that4 grey snow layers and 4 white snow layers that are clipped out in to the trees and layers changed at the same time. took me a whike to figure that one out. your way sounds much more simple.

The difference between the grey snow and the grey background is nothing, so you get black thereand the difference between the white top layer and the black parts is everything, so that turns them white ... and it doesn't affect the grey parts because the difference between white and grey is medium so you get grey out again.
That made things slightly more confusing, didn't it.
