
It's up to the person to check it out, look at how things work and join in - every now and again they might fuck up royally and might get flamed by some of the less patient members, but it's all part of life's rich tapestry and learning. Even places like 'Hilda's Knitting Forum' is going to be populated by people who treat newbies who fuck up with some kind of contempt.
I personally think b3ta /board is one of the more fluffier areas of the internet.
Cliques, cliques, cliques.. They existed before the wheel was invented and are nothing new.
That said, if I was new and posted for the first time on the gayshift, I don't think I would ever come back.
