I find it gets used in the stupidist of places. Strontiums use is very good. I did some design work for a company who wanted flare in their logo, website, business cards, compliment slips...

but to be fair ( to me )
if you are going to be a spacey type artist ( and millions of people like this kind of work ) then it is an invaluable tool and not out of place in such a scene.

That's a good use of lensflare.
It can make an image look really good. I don't like its use in the wrong places. It just bugs me.
