I should add, these are possibly the only anime where the English dub is better than the subtitled version.Although with Akira they did a newer English dub for the DVD which they sort of did seriously, instead of having the hilarious shouting in the original 1980s VHS dub which ruined the DVD in my opinion.
Also, Samurai Champloo is quite good for an anime. But Akira and Cowboy Bebop I hold up as actually being good, not just as anime but as actual film/television series. Most other anime is just irritating, bland and formulaic.
