I like your political/economic model. It mostly makes sense. I do disagree on the statement that successful athletes actors or businessmen cannot move into the elite positions of power. It is an avenue, not a gurantee. Power is not so easy either. Bill Gates (a man of power) spent sleepless nights working, delayed life and marriage all for a risk at success. Athletes and Movie stars have the economic power, and social connections to promote themselves or their children into positions of power. Power only comes when wealth meets responsibility. The worker class (self included) has control and will only respect the power of the reponsible powerful. Many who acquire wealth behave irresponsibly and the wealth quickly disolves. Others invest and make statements of power through public developement. Another model of power (much worse) is the one maintained through fear and coercion. True power is heavly guarded by the elite. What celebrities have is popularity and riches, they have to be chosen 2 crossover. Anyone who crosses over from being rich to being powerful is usually groomed for quite sometime to do so and is usually not a part of that minority group.
The economic power celebrities have is overestimated considering the minority group in America's buying power, yet we still own no major distribution companies or Major television networks

They are on a short leash
