A few minutes ago, I was going to reply about how it looked like predator...but then I started daydreaming about how I would invent a chromatomorphic creature of my own.
Then I realized it would probably be easier to evolve in such a way as to turn totally black and non-reflective, and then telepthically cause my prey to mentally fill in the absolute black with the surrounding areas -- kind of like an electromagnetic solidify filter.
