reagan was a very dangerous man who could have just as easily lead us into a horrible warlooking back, I am not at all sure that nuclear disarmament would have been a good idea, and the soviets were bloody dangerous, but the main reason the soviet union collapsed was because it couldn't cope with their domestic economic problems.

He bankrupted the Soviet systemwith defiance and a show of force. Russia couldn't cope with the amount spent on their GDP being spent on weapons , and hence the fascist system collapsed
