I think it's because you didn't draw lower chest or arm through the fire.So I kind of just assumed it wasn't there like some ghostly apparition.
N.B: Have you considered doing more deranged demons? Or the same ones with massive chainguns, mowing down people and laughing manically.

I do have something akin to the latter in my head;I've been weighing up whether I can be arsed drawing it. I think I might.
